Dave Hill here. I broke my elbow at Christmas and I'm really sorry to all our fans about having to cancel our gigs and I hope to see you all again real soon.
All this does remind me about a story in my book - Visit the Unbound Website for more information.
Back in 1972, at the height of Slade's fame, I managed to break my ankle. Crack! It was just like a gun being fired. My glamtastic high heeled boots may have looked great then, but I'm sure that nowadays health and safety might just have something to say.
The thing is, although Slade were a massive chart topping band then, and we were a live band touring non-stop, playing well over a hundred and fifty gigs a year in 1972 there was only one thing for it... ‘The show must go on!’.
It's amazing the results you can get with some silver paint and a roll of tin foil. I must have had the only glam rock plaster cast and performed those shows on a massive silver throne having been rolled out on stage. I think that a lot of the fans just thought it was part of the show, however you can read more of that in my book Unbound Website
I hope to be back playing live and seeing you all again very soon.
Now where's that silver paint!
